Built for work-intensive businesses and virtualization environments, the DiskStation DS3018xs 6-Bay NAS Enclosure from Synology is equipped with a PCIe 3.0 x8 slot that can accommodate a 10GbE network interface card for boosting network performance or a dual M.2 SSD adapter card for caching. It is equipped with six drive bays that are capable of natively supporting 3.5″ SATA hard drives, as well as 2.5″ SATA hard drives and SSDs. Using its six drive bays, this NAS will allow you to store and share a large number of files, including videos, music, photos, and documents with up to 16,000 user accounts and 2000 maximum concurrent connections.
The DS3018xs runs on Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS, which is a browser-based operating system that helps to simplify managing your Synology NAS. Its CPU is a 2.2 GHz Intel Pentium D1508 Dual-Core with a burst frequency of up to 2.6 GHz, and its 8GB of DDR4 ECC RAM, which can be upgraded to 32GB, allows frequently-used files and applications to be quickly accessed. The NAS is capable of achieving read speeds of up to 2231 MB/s and sequential IOPS reads of up to 265,000. When connected to two DX1215 expansion units, up to 30 total drives are supported.
The RackStation RS1619xs+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure from Synology delivers high performance and scalability for businesses that require a flexible, reliable, and efficient storage solution. This unit has four drive bays, each of which natively supports 3.5″ SATA hard drives, as well as 2.5″ SATA hard drives and SSDs. Should users need to expand the overall capacity of their RS1619xs+, the optional RX1217/RX1217RP expansion units offer an additional twelve drive bays.
The RackStation RS1619xs+ has a 1 RU form factor is powered by a 2.2 GHz Intel Xeon D-1527 Quad-Core processor, which will allow you to run multiple functions simultaneously. The 8GB of DDR4 ECC RAM will allow quick access to frequently used files and programs and may also be upgraded to a total of 64GB by installing a 16GB module into the four DIMM slots. Also featured are two USB 3.0 Type-A ports that allow it to be connected to your Windows or Mac system. Network connectivity is achieved via the four Gigabit Ethernet ports with failover support, which help to provide redundancy in the case that a LAN connection malfunction occurs on one port. In addition, link aggregation, powered by four LAN ports, helps to increase connection speeds beyond the limits of a single network port or cable. If you’re looking to expand this NAS, there is one PCIe 3.0 x8 slot that supports x8 cards and can be used to install a 10GbE/25GbE NIC for fast data transmission. Furthermore, dual M.2 2280 slots support NVMe and SATA SSDs for caching.
The 1.92TB SAT5200 SATA 2.5″ SSD from Synology is an enterprise-grade SSD built for select models of their NAS systems, including the FS6400, FS3600, and FS3400. It provides stable I/O performance and reduced latency for critical services and applications and is also able to handle mixed and intensive 24/7 workloads without reducing its endurance. All of these facets will provide users with a streamlined experience with minimal service disruptions.
This SSD has an overall capacity of 1.92TB, a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 2.5″ / 7mm form factor, sequential read speeds of up to 530 MB/s, sequential write speeds of up to 500 MB/s, random reads of 98,000 IOPS, and random writes of 60,000 IOPS. It also features an endurance of 4581TB TBW (terabytes are written), 1.3 DWPD (drive writes per day), a 1.5 million hour MTBF (mean time between failures), and an UBER (uncorrectable bit error rate) of <1 sector per 1017 bits read.
The DX1215 12-Bay Expansion Unit from Synology delivers volume expansion and data backup for the following selected Synology DiskStation servers: DS3615xs, DS3612xs, DS3611xs, DS2015xs, and DS2413+. There is also a DSM version requirement of 5.1-5004 or later. The DX1215 provides an additional 12 drive bays that support SATA III 6 Gb/s and SATA II 3 Gb/s 3.5″ hard drives, as well as 2.5″ hard drives and solid-state drives.
When used with Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), RAID management is possible and a RAID volume on your Synology DiskStation can be expanded directly without having to reformat any existing drives. This helps to ensure that your DiskStation continues to operate while its capacity is being expanded.
The DX1215 can also act as a dedicated local backup solution for a Synology DiskStation. When created as a separate volume, the DX1215 helps to provide a backup solution for local drives in case of a system failure. In addition to RAID management and local backups, online volume expansion is also supported.
To connect to the DiskStation, the DX1215 uses a secure and specially designed expansion cable that connects to its Infiniband port. This helps to ensure not only a simple connection but maximum data throughput. The 6 Gb/s connection speed allows the drives in the connected DX1215 to operate as the internal ones of the DiskStation.
Easily connect an HDMI or VGA monitor to the VS360HD VisualStation Video Decoder from Synology in order to view live video of up to 36 IP cameras at up to 1920 x 1080 resolution. This video decoder connects to a router via its RJ45 Ethernet port and pairs with your Synology NAS running Surveillance Station 7.0 and above and allows you to monitor and control your IP cameras without a computer. Connect amount, keyboard, or joystick for complete control, including PTZ control. Recordings and snapshots can be stored on a USB drive (available separately). This video decoder supports H.264, MPEG-4, and MJPEG codecs for high-quality playback and because it features no moving parts, it is less likely to become damaged while in use.
