DDR3 has arrived. New chipsets and processors from AMD® and Intel® now support memory operating at 1600MT/s (aka 1600MHz). DDR3-1600 memory has a module classification of PC3-12800, which effectively means the peak data rate of the module is 12.8GB/sec (see table). That’s about a 17% improvement on memory bandwidth over DDR3-1333.
Breakthrough network bandwidth bottlenecks with the dual-port E10G17-F2 10GbE SFP+ add-in card. Featuring CPU offloading, RDMA over Ethernet support1, E10G17-F2 satisfies the demands for high-performance computing on your Synology server
The Dual-Port 10 Gigabit SFP+ PCIe 3.0 x8 Ethernet Adapter from Synology provides two 10GbE ports for select Synology FS/XS+ series NAS servers. This adapter is installed inside your server’s PCIe 3.0 x8 slot to provide transfer rates of up to 10 Gb/s for networking connections. Included along with the adapter are low-profile and full-height brackets, which help ensure compatibility with your NAS server. Additionally, the two ports have link-aggregation support.
The Synology RX1217 12-Bay Storage Expansion Unit sports 12 hot-swappable drive bays so you can expand your Synology RackStation’s storage capacity. The RX1217 connects to your Synology RackStation via an included Infiniband cable, which helps ensure maximum data throughputs. For expansion, each of the bays is capable of holding a single 2.5″ hard drive, 3.5″ hard drive, or 2.5″ SSD. Other notable features include three 80mm fans that cool your drives and the RX1217. Moreover, a 500W power supply is on board to power the unit and drive.
The VS960HD VisualStation Surveillance Station from Synology allows you to connect up to two displays and supports up to 96 IP cameras and 4K UHD resolution. This device connects to a router via its RJ45 Ethernet port, and pairs with your Synology NAS running Surveillance Station 8.0.2 or above, enabling you to monitor and control your IP cameras without a computer. Connect a mouse, keyboard, or joystick to the USB 2.0 ports for complete control, including PTZ control. Via the USB 3.0 port, recordings and snapshots can be stored on a USB drive, which is available for purchase separately. This device supports H.264, H.265, MPEG-4, and MJPEG codecs for high-quality playback. It has no mechanical moving parts, so it is resistant to vibration and hardware failure. It comes with an RJ45 LAN cable to connect to your router and a VESA mounting kit which enables the device to be mounted on a wall or on the back of a screen.
The 1.92TB SAT5200 SATA 2.5″ SSD from Synology is an enterprise-grade SSD built for select models of their NAS systems, including the FS6400, FS3600, and FS3400. It provides stable I/O performance and reduced latency for critical services and applications and is also able to handle mixed and intensive 24/7 workloads without reducing its endurance. All of these facets will provide users with a streamlined experience with minimal service disruptions.
This SSD has an overall capacity of 1.92TB, a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 2.5″ / 7mm form factor, sequential read speeds of up to 530 MB/s, sequential write speeds of up to 500 MB/s, random reads of 98,000 IOPS, and random writes of 60,000 IOPS. It also features an endurance of 4581TB TBW (terabytes are written), 1.3 DWPD (drive writes per day), a 1.5 million hour MTBF (mean time between failures), and an UBER (uncorrectable bit error rate) of <1 sector per 1017 bits read.
